The Roof at The Durham

Ten Years on the Roof
For a decade, we’ve gathered here — under the stars, above the city — to celebrate Durham’s creativity, resilience, and rhythm. This night is no different. As part of our 10-year anniversary, we’re bringing something truly special to the Roof.

Shirlette Ammons takes the stage at 8 PM, joined by friends and collaborators. A Black, queer Southern truth teller, Shirlette is a force. She is a poet, musician, and producer whose work has shaped both stages and screens. Her latest album, Spectacles, co-produced with Phil Cook, explores what it means to be seen and unseen, celebrated and othered. It is a deeply personal, electrifying work rooted in Black Southern brilliance and created alongside an incredible community of artists and visionaries.

Framing her set, DJ Gemynii will bring the energy from 6 to 8 PM and again from 9 to 10 PM, spinning sounds that fill the Roof with movement, joy, and connection.

We’ll be pouring $5 bubbly and serving up a special anniversary cocktail menu. Expect good music, good people, and the kind of night that reminds you why we do this.

Everyone is welcome. Join us as we celebrate ten years in the heart of Durham with the artists and community who help make this place what it is.
